Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!

This note comes to you from the same seat, but with a new driver. Dale Schwantes is now behind the wheel and is trying to steer your club in the right direction.

The show grounds have taken on a new look with the addition of our new Women’s Center. This is the school house that has been moved from Jefferson to its new home at our club grounds. Many new ideas and displays are in the works to be featured during our upcoming show. This will be another attraction to spark interest for the attendees.

Pete Dehler has graciously accepted the Women’s Committee’s appointment as foreman of the restoration of the Women’s Center Building. He is now waiting for some better weather so that the roof can be replaced. Thus far the tarps have been keeping the elements from getting inside the building. Most materials are on hand to complete the restoration. Please call Pete at (920)387-4135 to offer a hand with the completion of this project.

The ongoing issue of the Darn Dam still plagues us. Darrell Pollesch is Chairman of The Darn Dam Committee and he is representing the club. Darrell has been continuously going to meetings to try to resolve the water issues for us and for our neighbors. Plans have been made and changed several times with new starting points. We need to keep our hopes up that this issue can be resolved for the good of the whole neighborhood!

Lately the weather has been another issue for us. Although the Toy Show was a success on Saturday, Sunday was canceled due to a snow storm. The snow seems to be overwhelming at times. The Wednesday crew has to plow snow away before they can work. Maybe they need to rest awhile and hit it hard when the weather is better. Les McCullough and Darrell Pollesch co-chair the Wednesday Work crew so please contact one or both of them if you can help with projects on the grounds.

These are a few committees that have been changed or newly formed. Please contact one of the Board or Chair members if you have an interest in volunteering for any of our committees.
  • Wednesday Crew - Foremen Darrell Pollesch (920)928-2392 and Les McCullough (920)324-0916
  • Policies and Procedures - co-chairs Bill Brehmer (920)474-7309 and Les McCullough (920)324-0916 - Bill and Les would like to see three more members to help out with this project.
  • News Letter - Looking for volunteers - Currently being done by Connie Kraemer (920)386-2577 & Michelle Zahn (920)386-2565
  • Odd Ball (2011 Feature) - Chair Marion Reisetter (920)387-4193
  • Women’s Center Committee - Chair Michelle Zahn (920)386-2565
  • Women’s Center Restoration - Foreman Pete Dehler (920)387-4135
  • The Darn Dam - Chair Darrell Pollesch (920)928-2392
Respectfully submitted,
Dale Schwantes, Club President
Ditch Report The committee met with two DNR personnel, Jim Congdon and Greg Farnham, at Burnett Town Hall on January 28, 2011. We discussed why the DNR was opposed to the forming of the ditch district. The DNR is charged with cleaning up the Rock River Water Basin. We came to some understanding of concerns on both sides. We are in the process of checking out a water program called CRETE at the county level. Also, Darrell met with Dennis Giese concerning his fish ponds. We have a number of loose ends hanging. We need to check out each one and get back to each other.
Thanks,
Darrell Pollesch
School House
Tuesday, December 7, 2010. The school house is prepared for moving onto its new foundation at the show grounds in Burnett. From left to right you see a member of the moving crew from Heritage Building Movers, Carolyn Dehler, Pete Dehler, two more members of the moving crew and Jim Zahn.

A note from our secretary
Happy winter!

Is everyone enjoying this wonderful white wonderland? I know that I am not. I am sorry to say that I missed the January Board Meeting because of the flu and I decided I would keep it to myself rather than spread it to the whole board.

Things seem to be scooting along pretty well out at the show grounds. I see that the Women's Center has made it to the grounds and is on its foundation. That is a good thing. If it ever quits snowing maybe we can get going on to finishing that project. I am sure it will all come together by August.

The toy show was only on Saturday this year because of a snow storm that hit late Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning. I hope that I am the only one who missed out on buying their Christmas gifts! I had quite a few things spotted that I planned to purchase on Sunday and I had hoped to find other things for presents. I really do hate shopping!

I do hope that everyone stays safe and healthy for the rest of the winter so that we can all get together in the spring for the picnic in May and maybe a work day or two on Wednesdays if I do not have to work at my part time job.
Respectfully submitted,
Connie Kraemer, Club Secretary
A note from our treasurer
Dear Members,

For those of you who missed the annual meeting, the show had a net profit of $36,692. We ended the fiscal year with a checkbook balance of $20,399. As of February 9, 2011 our checkbook balance is $5,263 and we owe $10,000 on our Line of Credit at the bank.

We have received $1,300 in cash donations toward moving and restoration of the School House to date. Anyone wishing to have a name placed on the donor’s plaque should contact a board member with the name for the plaque and the donation. There will also be work days, if you wish to help with restoration, when the weather allows.

Respectfully submitted,
Jim Richardson, Treasurer
Wish List
  • Wanted! One Firestone straight bar 13 X 28 tire for the club’s Allis-Chalmers WC. One of the existing tires has a LARGE tear along the sidewall and into the center of the tread. We would like to have this fixed and running for the show. Contact any board member if you have one or two of these tires available in fair to good condition.
  • We are in need of an experienced mason. Anybody out there know someone?
  • Looking for a wooden silo, a wooden corn crib*, a small barn. (We have our corn crib! Thank you to Doug Schultz, who has donated his crib, which is located just three miles from our grounds.)
  • We would like to have more information about our windmill, which was made in Waupun, WI. Anyone know something about it?
  • We are looking for refrigeration units for our walk-in coolers.
Notice If you have an article and/or pictures you would like to share with everyone via this newsletter, please e-mail them, along with appropriate captions, to Michelle Zahn, thesoaplady@sbcglobal.net.

Remember!
Wednesdays are work play days at the grounds. We have a heated shop for the cold winter months and plenty of cool, breezy areas to work in for the summer months. Darrell Pollesch (920)928-2392 or (cell) (920)296-0876 and Les McCullough (920)324-0916 are our Wednesday foremen. Please call them. They will be very happy to find something for you to do! Any and all players are welcome and very much appreciated.
