Hello everyone,
It seems that for some time we were caught somewhere between Winter and Spring, but we can throw that out the window now. As of lately, that is since Memorial Day, summer has jumped in and taken over full throttle with heat and humidity. I’m not complaining though, I’m happy with what we have been given, and not the weather that the people down south were given.
Out at the Showgrounds the crops are planted and the haying season has begun. The crop land has been sectioned into three parcels. Beginning this year, some land has been sown down into hay or cover crops. Later, if the timing is right, this area will be used for extra parking during the show. Next year another section will be planted into more hay or cover crops for even more parking. The fields will keep rotating to always allow for extra parking and possibly some plowing or other field demonstrations.

The Wednesday Crew has been quite busy. They now have a Waukesha engine running and mounted on a cart. This unit will be used in our sawmill. They have another Waukesha engine mounted on a tiller. This engine is also running, but the tiller needs a little more attention.
The kitchen is being updated with a commercial range hood to draw off excess heat and smoke created from the griddles. We need to keep the HEAT out of the kitchen. A walk-in cooler and freezer are being installed in the new kitchen addition. (We truly are taking the heat out of the kitchen.) These units should be big enough to hold the food and drinks that are ordered for the show. We still have a refrigerated trailer for back-up. Keep your fingers crossed that we don’t need it!
The school house is coming along closer to completion. A new roof is on and some areas have been jacked back up into place so the building is getting straightened and squared up again. The siding and windows also need to be worked on. There is plenty of scraping and painting to be done. If you would like to help with the school house please contact
There are still plenty of projects out at our showgrounds to be worked on. Jim Richardson has a list of projects that are waiting to be done. If you prefer not to take on any projects on your own, Darrell Pollesch will be happy to guide you to other tasks that need to be completed. Wednesdays are work days, but you are welcome to come out to the grounds on any day, including weekends. Please volunteer some of your time to help us all prepare for the show. We are getting closer to show time.
Respectfully submitted,
Dale Schwantes

A note from our secretary:
I have a some T-shirts (not too many, but a few). I’d like to get the supply down (so please stop in and pick up a few for the whole family!).
I would like to have some help in the office again this year during the Show. The help I have had in the past has always been wonderful and I am sure that whoever volunteers this year will be as well. Come give me an hour or two during the Show. We always have a good time working together in the office and the help is very much appreciated!
The Women’s Committee has been hard at it restoring our new school house, though the outside of the building has taken priority for this year. The inside will likely have to wait for another year before it gets attention. We’ll just have to use it this year as it is. I hear there are three beautifully handmade quilts donated as raffle items for funds for our school house. We must thank Connie Depover and Joan Weisensel for this wonderful gift!
Please come to the Show Meeting Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:30pm.
This is when and where we determine who can do what and where during our annual Show. Over the past few years we have lost a few dedicated members who have worked very hard for the success of our club. I believe we can count on everyone to put in just a few hours during the Show to help out with the different things going on. I think all members can take a little time away from our toys to help. That way no one has to spend three straight days with all work and no play!
Well, it is time for me to go to work, so I must say goodbye for now and I hope to see you all in my office registering for the Show (but first I hope to see you at the Show meeting Sunday, July 31 at 2:30). If you can’t make it to the Show meeting, please give a call to either Marion Reisetter (920)210-8908 or Jim Richardson (920)319-1773 to volunteer a little of your time. Do it today!
Connie Kraemer, Club Secretary
Dear members,
Just a short $ report to let you know what has happened in the last few months. We made a major effort to clean up items that the board felt would not be repairable for display purposes or use as parts in other projects. At the time scrap prices were quite high and, through the generous help of a member who deals in scrap metals, we were able to bring in about $6,000. This move has kept us from borrowing more bank money and also cleaned up our fence line. We are now concentrating on finishing the kitchen addition and ventilation system, and the women’s center. There are still many projects that are low cost but we need labor to complete before the show. All help is welcome.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Richardson, Treasurer
Wish List
- One Firestone straight bar 13 X 28 tire for the club’s Allis-Chalmers WC. One of the existing tires has a LARGE tear along the sidewall and into the center of the tread. We would like to have this fixed and running for the show. Contact any board member if you have one or two of these tires available in fair to good condition.
- We are in need of an experienced mason. Anybody out there know someone? We would like to have a stone wall around the base of our school house. We’ll provide materials.
- Looking for a wooden silo and a small barn.
- We would like to have more information about our windmill, which was made in Waupun, WI. Anyone know something about it?
- We are looking for refrigeration units for our walk-in coolers.
